Classic Explorer – full campervan electrical kit
Our full campervan electrical kits include everything you need to fully wire in a campervan electrical system. We include all cabling, fuses, cable lugs, etc., as well as a number of options to enhance the system.
This kit includes a 500VA Victron inverter/charger, supplied with 2x consumer units and 3 core cable.
We supply 2x 150W Victron solar panels with L mounting brackets. These are typically screwed into place, but can also be glued to both the panel and the roof of your vehicle if you don’t wish to drill through the roof of your vehicle. Note that that open circuit voltage (Voc) of these panels will double when they’re wired together in series, as instructed in the wiring diagram.
A 100/20 Victron MPPT charge controller is also included. If you choose to include smart functionality, we will supply the SmartSolar version which can be configured and monitored via the Victron Connect app on your phone. Otherwise, we will include the BlueSolar version.
The 30A non-isolated battery to battery charger lets you recharge your leisure batteries as you drive. Please note – the non-isolated model requires a common chassis ground (most standard vehicles will have this).
For your 12V distribution and loads, we include a 12V fuse board. We also include a 65A Smart BatteryProtect in this full system kit. So, this protects your leisure battery when a low state of charge is reached by cutting off any 12V loads.
Choose to include a 1x 230Ah TN Power AGM battery, or opt for the ‘no battery’ option and pick an alternative from our range of leisure batteries.
Distribute power from your leisure batteries to the rest of your system using 2x busbars. We’ll also include an isolator switch so you can isolate power to the rest of the system.
Choose whether you want to include the Cerbo GX and 5″ touch screen. If included, this allows you to monitor your entire system from a single point, via your phone or laptop. We have water tank senders and RuuviTags available if you also want to monitor water tank level and temperature. Read our Cerbo GX article for more information.
This kit includes every single product you need to fully install your campervan electrical system. So as well as the major components, every cable, fuse, holder, switch and lug is included.
Wiring diagram & installation guidance
We supply all our kits with a subsystem wiring diagram and installation guidance. This includes information on setting up the inverter correctly using the DIP switches and the VictronConnect app. So, you can install your system easily and be confident it’s installed correctly. If you need any support during the install, contact us and we can provide additional support.
Classic Explorer – use case
This kit is suitable for someone who will spend their time mostly off-grid. It also includes a shore hook up, so you’ll be able to recharge from a campsite.
The 230Ah battery bank and 300W solar array is suitable for someone with low-medium power usage. For example, common appliances might include a 12V fridge, water pump, lights, phones, a small blender, and a speaker. The 500VA inverter will also be able to run low-wattage 230V mains appliances, such as laptop and drone chargers.
The Classic Explorer is most suitable for someone using their van for weekends away, 1-2 week holidays and occasional longer trips. However, it would also be suitable for someone living in their van full-time if they have low power requirements. The optional AGM battery is suitable for most people whose usage fits this description. Check out our guidebook page on campervan leisure batteries to read more about choosing one that’s right for you.
