The Victron 40W Monocrystalline Solar Panel is the perfect addition to any off-grid application. They are pre-wired with MC4 connectors, making for easy installation. Their sturdy, anodized aluminium frame allows for easy roof mounting with a variety of standard mounting systems. A sealed, waterproof, multi-functional junction box provides a high level of safety.

This Victron 40W solar panel is monocrystalline, which means that each solar PV cell is made of a single silicon crystal. Monocrystalline solar panels are more efficient than polycrystalline solar panels, so you will get a higher solar yield from your panels.

Victron 40W solar panel – use cases

The Victron 40W solar panels are suitable for off-grid applications such as campervans, boats and tiny houses. When used in a campervan setting, we would recommend a minimum solar array of 200W. This will ensure that you are able to generate enough solar power even in winter or cloudier days. Charging your system requires an open circuit voltage of 15V or higher, so we would recommend wiring your solar panels in series to achieve a higher total system voltage.

Solar panel mounting options

Depending on your application, the Victron 40W solar panels can be mounted in a number of ways. If you have a roof rack you can mount directly to this. Otherwise, you can use mounting brackets to attach your solar panels to the roof of your campervan.

Solar charge controllers

Once you’ve decided on the size of your solar array, make sure you find the correct solar charge controller! You can calculate your maximum open circuit voltage by adding together the voltages of each of your panels (if wired in series). Your maximum open circuit current will remain the same (when wired in series). Victron charge controllers are sized based on these 2 numbers – e.g. the 100/30 charge controller is suitable for an open circuit voltage up to 100V and an open circuit current up to 30A.
