Victron AGM Super Cycle batteries are the result of recent battery electrochemistry developments. The paste of the positive plates is less sensitive to softening, even in case of repeated 100% discharge of the battery, and new additives to the electrolyte reduce sulfation in case of deep discharge. This means that the AGM Super Cycle batteries boast an impressive 300 cycles at 100% DoD. We recommend the Super Cycle battery for applications where there is an occasional discharge to 100% DoD, or a frequent discharge to 60-80% DoD.
Victron Super Cycle AGM batteries are perfect for off-grid applications where deep discharging is required, but weight and size are not an issue, or the budget is more limited. They are a maintenance-free VRLA battery, so there’s no need to add water or acid during application.

Lifespan of Victron Super Cycle AGM deep cycle leisure batteries
- 100% DoD – 300 cycles
- 80% DoD – 500 cycles
- 60% DoD – 700 cycles
This means that a Victron Super Cycle leisure battery specced to provide 3 full days of power based on your daily power usage, when used every day (i.e. in full-time usage applications) will have a lifespan of around 3-4 years. In this setting, we would recommend that in this instance, you only regularly discharge your battery by up to 65%.
When used in part-time applications, such as in a campervan used for holidays, it will have a lifespan of around 8-10 years. For comparison, a lithium leisure battery of the same specification with full-time usage will have a lifespan of 15-20 years.
AGM leisure batteries – use cases
Victron AGM Super Cycle leisure batteries can be deeply discharged by up to 80-100% of their total capacity. This means that a large portion of the battery’s capacity can be accessed.
For full-time applications where the battery will be in use every day, and where weight and space are important factors, it can be a good idea to consider lithium batteries.
