Personal story
Growing up on the coast of South West Wales, Grace’s life has always revolved around the sea. Her father taught her early on that "if the sun is shining, indoors is not the place to be", a philosophy she firmly lives by. As a redhead with fair skin who loves the outdoors, this means she is fiercely obsessive about sun protection, wearing suncream every single day, even in winter! This active upbringing fostered a lifelong love for surfing, snorkelling, and outdoor exploration. When she isn't designing electrical systems, you will still find her by the ocean, surfing, snorkelling, or reading on the beach.
Grace’s career path began with a deviation into classical music before she found her true calling in Design, where she discovered a passion for practical problem-solving. Although she chose not to pursue music professionally, it remains a huge part of her life, she still sings in a classical choir and is a massive fan of blues, jazz, and soul.
During university, she discovered a love for making and creating things that balance utility with thoughtful design. At the same time, she worked as an adaptive surf instructor, managing the organisation's social media and travelling internationally to support athletes with disabilities. This role refined her ability to communicate complex ideas simply and inclusively, while teaching her the deep impact that sport and nature can have on people's lives.
After graduating, Grace and her partner spent years travelling through South East Asia, Europe, and Morocco, chasing waves and new experiences. Returning to the UK, she turned her passion into a profession and started working as a professional van builder. In 2023, she moved into her own self-converted 2020 VW Crafter, where she now lives full-time. Today, Grace combines her technical skills with her love for the road, helping others achieve the same freedom she enjoys every day.
A fun fact, Grace has been obsessed with tomatoes since she was two years old. It is not uncommon for her to eat multiple punnets in a single sitting!.
